Yohanes 5:25

5:25 I tell you the solemn truth, ¹  a time ²  is coming – and is now here – when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.

Yohanes 13:8

13:8 Peter said to him, “You will never wash my feet!” ³  Jesus replied, ⁴  “If I do not wash you, you have no share with me.” ⁵ 

[5:25]  ¹ tn Grk “Truly, truly, I say to you.”

[5:25]  ² tn Grk “an hour.”

[13:8]  ³ tn Grk “You will never wash my feet forever.” The negation is emphatic in Greek but somewhat awkward in English. Emphasis is conveyed in the translation by the use of an exclamation point.

[13:8]  ⁴ tn Grk “Jesus answered him.”

[13:8]  ⁵ tn Or “you have no part in me.”
